"So," Kelly said as she sat at the office table in one of the backrooms of Camp McCarran "how combat ready do you feel they are?" The question was directed at Boone who sat across from her. Veronica sat to her left and Arcade was at the end of the table. "About half of them are at an acceptable level. They can shot strait and have an understanding of basic tactics. Most of them are the recruits from Westside. The rest are mostly druggies that should be going though detox at the Mormon Fort." Boone said after a moment of thought.
"We have also been getting reports that the Legion force from Dry Wells is on the move. They appear to be trying to cross the southern part of the territory headed for Primm. Luckily their progress is slow given the fact that they are taking all their slaves with them." He added.
"Then cherry pick ten of the best men you have and tell them that tomorrow they will move out with me. I will lead them down to Primm and we will stop the Legion there just like we stopped them at the dam." Kelly said with enthusiasm. Before anyone could say anything she carried on. "Boone I'm sorry to say this but I need you here. Those other men must be trained. If we want to hold all of the territory from the Legion, N.C.R., or anyone else that pokes there head up trying to take here we need more than just the securitrons. Arcade, Veronica will you hold down the preverbal fort wile I'm away?"
"Sure" Veronica said "just be careful." Kelly smiled. "You know me." "That's my point." Veronica said with a grin. Veronica and Boone got up and headed for the door, Arcade stayed there.
"Hey can we talk for a moment?" He said. "Yeah, no problem." Kelly replied. She had a feeling that this might have to do with Yes Man; she had finally told him about that when she got back to the Strip this morning. "I wanted to thank you. For all you are doing for the people here. You saved them; from the Legion, House, N.C.R. and you have been though so much, seen so much death. It would have broke any other person but you, you made it. All of the people here owe you but most of them will never know how much." He finished by taking a sip of his glass of water.
"Thanks isn't necessary Arcade. To tell you the truth people talk about how I had to have planned this for a long time and all that jazz. About how I've been a Legion agent all this time, but its funny cuz I had never meet anyone I knew was Legion till after Benny shot me." Arcade could see it in Kelly's bright green eyes that she was telling the truth.
"I made it to the Strip, meet Mr. House and did not like him. He had this disregard for anyone that did not have something he wanted that was appalling. Just look at Freeside. He claimed he was the leader of New Vegas, but Vegas is more than just the Strip. There is more responsibility to it than just that." He nodded In agreement.
Kelly continued. "So when I found Yes Man, and I killed Benny, I went and killed House. It was remarkably easier than one might think. Then I took a long while and seen what all the other societies had to offer, from the Legion to the Divide and everywhere in between. Sorry, I'm rambling."
"It was fascinating; truly." he said. "Hey, if you want to hear me talk I can tell a far better tale than that." Kelly said has she got up and went to the fridge in the back of the room. She grabbed two Nuka-Colas, popped the caps off them, and sat one in front of Arcade. He could tell she was in a mood to vent about some of what she had been though so he happily took the cola and sat back in the his chair.
So Kelly told Arcade about her trip to Big Mt., about the kidnapping of her brain and her fight to get it back. Several hours went by and Arcade sat fascinated by what Kelly had to say. When Kelly was done Arcade spoke up. "So sitting away in the Sink is a copy of your brain; with all of your memories and everything?" And suddenly an idea hit Kelly like a super mutant with a rebar club, a very large super mutant with a very heavy rebar club. Kelly sat there for a long moment and just stared in amazement. She could not believe she had not thought of it before.
She jumped up, ran over to Arcade and kissed him on the forehead. "You are a genius! A bloody genius!" She cried with excitement then all but ran out of the room leaving Arcade to sit there bewildered. Kelly raced of outside with a newfound goal for she now knew how she would defeat Yes Man when he awoke.
